Lance Gunkel, a Senior Financial Analyst, is responsible for assisting the Wealth Coaches in managing clients’ wealth coaching and investment management needs.
Lance also heads up firm’s Investment Committee, which analyzes current economic and market trends and formulates the firm’s investment philosophy. In addition, the Committee performs due diligence on various alternative investments, including private real estate, commodities, mezzanine financing, and hedge funds.
Lance is a member of the firm’s Operations Team, where he is responsible for the Plan Development Process. In this role Lance manages the firm’s team of Analysts and Associates. Lance received a Bachelors degree in Finance from Drake University as a magna cum laude and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), with a finance focus and honors, from the University of Iowa Tippie School of Management.
Lance is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation. He received his CFA charter following intensive study in investment portfolio design and management, and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Prior to his work at Syverson Strege & Company, Lance performed valuations of privately-held companies for the purposes of litigation support, estate planning, and corporate reorganizations.
When not at work, Lance enjoys time with family, running, overseas travel, and reading on a variety of non-fiction topics. Of particular interest to Lance is the subject of sustainable economic development in order to eliminate Third World poverty.
Lance’s wife, Carolyn, is an attorney with Faegre & Benson LLP. They have a child, William, and live in Clive.
